USA Graphite (USGT) resumed its uptrend in early trading on Friday as investors continue to provide solid buying support. Volume is brisk at more than 500,000 shares during the first half-hour of trading. There have been a few big trades in the early going but, for the most part, there is steady buying underlying today's price action.
The uptrend in USGT has clearly resumed after a short consolidation on January 2. Since then, the share has hit higher highs and higher lowsthe classic definition of an uptrend and every small wave of selling has been repulsed by steady buying.
The market is beginning to catch onto the USGT graphite story. The shares are have been trading above the $0.80 mark for most of the morning and could make a push toward the intraday high of $0.849 seen on December 28. News reports today state that the UK government has given grants totaling $33.5 million to several British universities to develop graphene applications. Graphene is a Nobel Prize-winning material made from natural flake graphite such as that found on USGT's graphite properties.
In addition, a group of Australian scientists have developed new semiconductors made of layers of graphene and molybdenum oxides that can create electronics that are much faster and can transfer more data than conventional silicon-based products.
